A successful PVSchool2020!
The thematic school on the Physics of Solar Cells: from basic principles to advanced characterization (PVSchool2020) was hosted by Les Houches School of Physics located in the French Alps, from 1st to 6th March 2020. The school was organized by Stéphane Collin and Andrea Cattoni from the C2N, Daniel Suchet from the IPVF and Laurent Lombez from the LPCNO, and it was supported by the CNRS, the IPVF and the Labex NanoSaclay.
This second edition of the PVSchool attracted a great interest with many applications from all over the world and held at full capacity with 68 registered attendees. The program covered the physics of solar cells with a special focus on characterization techniques. The lectures and tutorials (25h) were given by renowned scientists strongly committed to the success of the program (Uwe Rau, Daniel Abou-Ras, Edgardo Saucedo, Philip Schulz, Sascha Sadewasser, Susan Schorr, Jean-François Guillemoles, Etienne Drahi). Two poster sessions were also organized in a vibrant and friendly atmosphere, and we were glad to see attendees enjoying passionate discussions until midnight and more!
Videos of the lectures can be viewed on the Youtube channel of the Les Houches Shool of Physics.
Congrats to Stefan Schäfer and Cyril Léon for the Best Poster Awards!

Overall, this second edition of the PV School was a great success. Be sure that the organizers will do their best to organize a third PVSchool edition in 2022 with a novel program, stay tuned!

After the great success of the first PV School on Physics of Solar Cells: from basics to nanoscience in Les Houches from 25-30 March 2018, we are proud to announce the second edition of the PV School in Les Houches.
The PV School 2020 will be held on 1-6 March 2020, in Les Houches, France. Save the date!
It will focus on Physics of Solar Cells: from basic principles to advanced characterization.
The goal of this new thematics school is to cover the physics of solar cells with a emphasis on characterization techniques. A first part will be devoted to basic principles and theoretical limits of solar cells, an overview of technologies (Si, CIGS, CdTe, III-V, perovskite, and multi-junctions), interfaces and heterostructures, modeling and photonics. A second part will be focused on advanced characterization techniques for materials and devices: luminescence, Raman, microscopic and scanning probe techniques, X-ray diffraction and related techniques, device characterization at the cell/module scale, and data analysis… Several tutorials will be also proposed. The program can be checked here.
The flyer with available information can be uploaded here.
The PVSchool2020 has been selected as a CNRS thematic school, it is eligible for the formation continue for CNRS employees. A few places are still available for CNRS employees only with no fee. Please contact the organizers as soon as possible if you are interested.
Application notifications have just been sent on Sunday, 12 January 2020. We are sorry for the delay due to the high number of applications.
The application deadline is extended to the 20th, December 2019.
The application deadline is 15 December 2020.
The organizers can be contacted at pvschool2020@c2n.upsaclay.fr.
