The thematic school on the Physics of Solar Cells: from basic principles to material science (PVSchool2022) was hosted by Les Houches School of Physics located in the French Alps, from 3-8 April 2022. The school was organized by Stéphane Collin and Andrea Cattoni from the C2N, and Daniel Suchet from the IPVF, and it was supported by the CNRS, the C2N and the IPVF.
This third edition of the PVSchool attracted a great interest with applications from many different countries and held at full capacity with 65 registered attendees. The program covered the physics of solar cells with a special focus on material science. We started the week with an 8h series of courses on basic physics for PV science. Advanced lectures offered an overview of the specificities of each technology, relating their typical features to the basic properties of their materials, and tutorial sessions were organized every day. The lectures, topical discussions and tutorials (25h) were given by renowned scientists (Uwe Rau, Jenny Nelson, Marika Edoff, David Cahen, Jean-Francois Guillemoles, David Lackner). Evening sessions were devoted to two poster sessions, and a debate on ethical issues in the academic research. The whole week took place in a friendly atmosphere and triggered passionate discussions from early mornings to late evenings!

This third edition of the PV School was, once again, a great success. Be sure that the organizers, pushed by the fantastic feedback received from the attendees, will do their best to organize a fourth PVSchool edition in 2024 with a novel program!
